ECU @ USF – Army @ Duke – VT @ UNC – Notre Dame at NC State – Syracuse at Wake Forest
ECU at USF:
East Carolina travels south to avoid Hurricane Matthew and take on the Bulls of South Florida:
The Pirates get on the board first with a field goal:
USF responds with a touchdown:
After ECU turns it over on downs, USF kicks a field goal to go up 10-3:
ECU responds with a field goal of its own:
ECU forces a fumble, but misses the field goal:
USF scores to go into halftime up 17-6:
USF scores again out of halftime to go up 24-6:
ECU responds with a touchdown and field goal to close the gap to 24-16:
ECU forces a 3-and-out and scores again!
….but misses the two-point conversion, keeping the score 24-22:
A 62-yard USF touchdown pass and an ECU interception later and ECU loses 38-22:
Notre Dame at NC State:
NC State welcomes the Fightin’ Irish of Notre Dame and Hurricane Matthew:
After a 3-and-out, NC State drives, but misses a field goal:
After another Notre Dame punt, State manages to make a field goal:
The rest of the first half goes PUNT, PUNT, FUMBLE, FUMBLE, INTERCETPION, PUNT, PUNT, TURNOVER ON DOWNS:
After NC State derps up their first drive out of halftime, Notre Dame ties it with a 40-yard field goal:
Matthew Dayes fumbles on State’s next possession:
After Notre Dame turns it over on downs, State drives down to the Notre Dame with Jalan McClendon leading the way:
But then State puts in Ryan Finley and he runs the wrong play:
And NC State misses the field goal to come away with nothing:
The two teams trade punts and then Pharoah McKever blocks a Notre Dame punt and Dexter Wright runs it in for a touchdown:
Notre Dame is driving late in the fourth quarter to try and tie the game:
But Notre Dame screws up the snap on a 4th and 8 and then throws it to an ineligible receiver and State wins, 10-3!
Virginia Tech at UNC:
In the middle of Hurricane Matthew, UNC welcomes Virginia Tech in a Top 25 matchup!
The teams run a combined 14 plays in the first 4 series:
VT gets on the board with a touchdown:
UNC fumbles on the next possession and VT kicks another field goal:
After some punts and fumbles (gross), UNC tacks on a field goal of their own:
Virginia Tech scores just before halftime to make it 13-3:
UNC’s offense the entire second half:
VT scores 28 straight points and wins 34-3:
Army at Duke:
Duke welcomes Army to Wallace Wade in the downpour of Hurricane Matthew:
Duke forces a fumble at the Army 5 and takes it for a 7-0 lead:
After forcing another Army punt, Duke responds with another touchdown but failed two point conversion to go up 13-0:
A big run by Army leads to a touchdown.
Duke goes into halftime with a 13-6 lead:
The offense for both teams in the second half:
Duke wins, 13-6!
Syracuse at Wake Forest:
The Demon Deacons play host to Syracuse on the heels of Hurricane Matthew:
After forcing an Orange punt, Wake Forest snaps the ball nearly 50 yards into their own end zone for a safety:
After four more punts and a fumble, Wake finally gets on the board, taking a 7-2 lead:
Syracuse responds with a touchdown of their own to take back the lead at 9-7:
Wake takes the lead right back with a big run from Wolford to go into halftime up 14-9:
The third quarter was full of punts and sadness:
Wake pulls away with another touchdown late in the fourth quarter:
Syracuse fumbles as they’re driving to cut into the lead and Wake returns it to take a 28-9 lead:
