Ben Swain – News Director

Hoping to cut his journalistic teeth on the Iraq war, Swain was instead mistakenly assigned the North Carolina sports beat as an intern out of college. He threw himself into the work with the same fervor he anticipated taking to the front lines and has become one of the most respected voices in modern sports media. He’s also a Duke fan from Durham County who went State. And Guilford.

Hayes Permar – Lead Anchor/Reporter

What does Hayes like about sports? Walk offs, walkovers, walk ups, walk outs, walks, Ewoks, “Walk Like A Man” by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. He is from Wake County and dropped out of Davidson, UNC and NC State, jumps on whatever in-state bandwagon is currently tracking towards a championship and has a favorite teams but pretends he doesn’t for journalistic purposes.

Weather Moose – Digital Media Producer / Meteorologist

Much like Darren Rovell pioneered the “sports biz” industry and almost as beloved, the Weather Moose has blazed new trails in both “sports meteorology” and “moose meteorology.” He is become the trusted source in North Carolina for the answer to all-important question: Is my tailgate going to get rained on. He has also affirmed the credo that a picture is worth 1,000 words but a gif is worth infinity. He’s also a State fan from Johnston County who went to State.

Josh Goodson – Director of Gaming Services (formerly Food and Beverage Chairman)

Country strong and city wise, Josh handles imports and exports for the network. He handles a little of this, and a little of that. If something needs to get taken care of at Sports Channel 8, he can take care of it. And if you need a guy, he probably knows a guy. He’s also a State fan from Lenoir County who went to UNC.

Brian Geisinger – Staff Millennial, NBA Blogger Type

While he could probably do the job of the news director (who JUST got on snapchat last week) better than him, for now Brian is working for Sports Channel 8 because they agreed to pay for half of his NBA League Pass. He loves flare screens, corner threes and worships at the alter of Jesus Shuttlesworth. Next he’ll probably either work for his friend’s new bakery in downtown Raleigh or tend bar because at least at those places he’ll meet girls. He’s also a Wake Forest fan from Forsyth County who went to State.
