Once again, we’re discussing a Hall of Fame ACC basketball coach for the Los Angeles Lakers job. But this time, it’s the one in a different shade of blue.

UNC coach Roy Williams has emerged as a candidate for the recently vacated position, according to ESPN.
The Lakers are compiling a long wish list of coaching candidates for their search. Among the candidates the Lakers will look at are Luke Walton, Kevin Ollie, Jay Wright, Roy Williams, Tom Izzo, John Calipari, Ettore Messina, Jeff Van Gundy and David Blatt, sources told Shelburne. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Jeff Hornacek is also expected to be on the Lakers’ list.
However, our sources are indicating that Shelburne’s sources are “full of shit and crazy as hell.” We’ll have more on this story as it develops.
