ACC Gametimes: November 21st

While the ACC has decided to put on hold announcing times for all the November 14th games, we here at SportsChannel8 will go ahead and try to help you make plans for the November 21st games.

Wake Forest @ Clemson- 12:00PM, ESPN

Duke @ Virginia- 12:30, ACC Network

Chattanooga @ Florida State- 12:00, ESPN2

Georgia Tech @ Miami- 3:30, RSN

Louisville @ Pittsburgh- 3:30, ESPNU

North Carolina @ Virginia Tech- 7:00PM, ESPNU

Syracuse @ NC State- 12:30, RSN

Boston College @ Notre Dame- 7:30, NBC

Nothing has made sense with the ACC gametimes this year. This was painfully evident when Duke/UNC got the 12PM treatment and FSU/Clemson got stuck at 3:30PM.

#DukeUNC4Gameday: What to Root For

Still holding out hope for #DukeUNC4Gameday in Chapel Hill on Saturday November 7th?

While it appears to be a pipe dream after Duke/UNC was given a 12/12:30 start time, here are some things you should be rooting for this week to give it a shot:

  1. Hope the game starts at 12:30 on ESPN. Not that it matters much, but we are hard pressed to believe ESPN would do Gameday at a location with a 12:00 start. We all know UNC fans show up to early games, so no one would be there while Corso puts on the Rameses or Blue Devil head.
  2. UNC has to win at Pitt. Duh.
  3. Duke has to beat Miami. Duh.
  4. It would probably help if NC State beats Clemson. Clemson hosts FSU on November 7th and the appeal of a FSU/Clemson gameday would lessen if the Tigers have a loss. Also, Gameday has already been to Death Valley.
  5. Pull for Texas Tech to knock off Oklahoma State. This may not be too hard to achieve as Oklahoma State is just a 3 point favorite vs Texas Tech at this point. Oklahoma State hosts undefeated TCU on November 7th and would be a serious contender for Gameday should it be an undefeated TCU at undefeated Oklahoma State.
  6. Hope that ESPN stops the slurpfest of the SEC and realizes there is decent football played in the ACC. This would require them not going to Tuscaloosa for LSU/Alabama for the EIGHTH time in history. Do we really need to see a one loss team play against a team who struggled to put away Syracuse? Plus why should they care about a game that ended 9-6 in a field goal contest years ago. Gross.
  7. Pray.

ACC FOOTBALL GAMETIMES: NOVEMBER 14TH

We aren’t very good at this. Actually we are blaming the ACC for being the bottom of the barrel in the ESPN pecking order, as the week of November 7th features 3 potentially good games, yet NONE if them are scheduled for night, including FSU/Clem, Duke/UNC and ND/Pitt.

We will try our best guess at doing this again however as we aren’t quitters.

Week of November 14:

November 12- Virginia Tech @ Georgia Tech: 7:30 ESPN. We are 100% confident in this one

Clemson @ Syracuse 12:00 ESPN/ABC

Pittsburgh @ Duke- 3:30 ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU

NCSU @ Florida State- 3:30 ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU

UVA @ Louisville- 3:00 RSN

Miami @ UNC- 12:30 ACC Network

Wake @ Notre Dame- 3:30 NBC

THIS WEEK IN POINT SHAVING: OCTOBER 26 (COACHES KNOW)

When coaches/players tell you they don’t know the spread, we are all kind of “MEH”. They know. They know that we know they know. Hell sometimes they even favorite tweets about point spreads…

So you can’t tell me that the New York Jets coach, Todd Bowles didn’t know the Jets were getting 7.5 points in their game at the New England Patriots.

If you had the Jets +7.5, you were inside the number for practically the entire game. The Jets even led 20-16 with 12 minutes to go. The Jets went on to lose the lead, falling behind 23-20 with 7 minutes to go. They then decided it would be smart not to put anyone on Rob Gronkowski, allowing the easiest touchdown ever with 1:18 to go. Suddenly the Jets are down 30-20, looking at a loss and a disasterous failure at covering the spread.

Enter Coach Todd Bowles.

The Jets slowly work their way down the field, exhausting all timeouts in the process. Then with 18 seconds to go they line up for the field goal!!! A 55 yard field goal at that. Surely they will tell you that the only way to win the game was to make a quick field goal, get the onside kick, then get a hail mary. Of course Nick Folk comes through in the clutch, nailing the 55 yarder. The Jets pull to 30-23, but more importantly those Jets +7.5 backers are doing the happiest of all dances.

Coaches know. Trust us they know.
