Devonte’ Graham’s High School and Middle School teachers wish him good luck in the Final Four

Videos

Although we’re saddened no schools from the ACC nor the state of North Carolina made it to the Final Four, you knew there had to be a Tobacco Road tie in there somewhere. If you haven’t already committed to pulling for your bracket (or against your co-worker winning because they’ll never shut up about it) and you’re feeling like the Sister Jean bandwagon is getting a little full, might we suggest pulling for  Devonte’ Graham of Kansas and, more importantly from North Carolina. His journey to Kansas was recently profiled in the News & Observer.

Need more motivation to pull for him? How about a video of Graham, the Big 12 Player of the Year, getting congratulated and supported by his former teachers at Broughton High School and Daniels Middle School. We made an abridged version here:

His teachers are proud of his basketball success AND the fact that he’s on track to graduate. Many of them talk about forgoing who they normally root for during March Madness to pull first and foremost for their favorite student (although it doesn’t hurt that some of their favorite schools aren’t in the Final 4).

It’s also just another testament to how awesome teachers are. Now if we could just get them all to shoot with their phones horizontal instead of vertical. Here is the original full-length video:
