Giftastic Recap of ACC Bowl Games

With the ACC’s Bowl Season (regrettably) over, we decided to quickly recap how the end of the year exhibitions went for our conference’s teams. Here’s a Giftastic Recap of ACC Bowl Games.

Duke vs Northern Illinois, W 36-14
Quick Lane Bowl – Detroit, MI

The Blue Devils dominated the entire game. They jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and essentially cruised the rest of the way. It was a great way to end the season for David Cutcliffe and Co., especially after looking so abysmal midway through the season. How does next season look? We’re a lot more optimistic now. Here’s how the Blue Devils approached this one:

Florida State vs Southern Miss, W 42-13
Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar Independence Bowl – Shreveport, LA

In theory, FSU shouldn’t have been bowl eligible. But, ya know, theory is useless when you try to apply it to college sports. Southern Miss was completely overmatched by a team that was probably better than its record, but dealt with injury issues and a coach that wanted to bail all year. FSU = the dogs. Southern Miss = That poor kid:

Boston College vs Northern Iowa, L 27-20
New Era Pinstripe Bowl – The Bronx, NY

BC took a 17-10 into halftime and then decided to quit offensing. Ya almost had ya one, BC. Almost.

Virginia vs Navy, L 49-7
Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman – Annapolis, MD

We won’t speak of this ever again. Until next year. And then we’ll speak of it a lot.

Virginia Tech vs Oklahoma St, L 30-21
Camping World Bowl – Orlando, FL

VT tried valiantly, but couldn’t get out of their own way, at times. Never got enough from the offense and key mistakes in the red zone doomed them against the Cowboys. Better luck next time.

Wake Forest vs Texas A&M, W 55-52
Belk Bowl – Charlotte, NC

Holy crap what a game. Wake was dominant. And then not dominant. And then the rest of the way it was like a weird slug match to see who was left standing. Wake went from overpowering victor to bloodied and bruised Belk Bowl champ. But still a champ.

NC State vs Arizona State, W 52-31
Hyundai Sun Bowl – El Paso, TX

Out in the west Texas town of El Paso
We saw the Wolfpack demolish their foe

Louisville vs Mississippi St, L 31-27
TaxSlayer Bowl – Jacksonville, FL

Louisville took a 24-17 lead into the fourth quarter but the defense fell apart. And even heroics on the last play where Lamar Jackson scrambled for a year weren’t enough for the Cardinals to pull this one out. So close.

Miami vs Wisconsin, L 34-24
Capital One Orange Bowl – South Florida, FL

Miami went up early only for things to go off the rails quickly. The Hurricanes couldn’t do enough in the second half to overcome early stupidity.

Clemson vs Alabama, L 24-6
CFP Semifinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl – New Orleans, LA

What an atrocious showing from the Tigers. They looked incredibly disinterested from the jump and never really found themselves in the game. How Clemson looked most of the night:

Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Pitt, and Syracuse

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
