Virginia basketball, let’s bury the hatchet

Okay, Hoos. Let’s do this. We’re ACC. You’re ACC. Let’s put our differences aside and go into March Madness hand-in-hand. We’re not going to agree that you play an entertaining brand of basketball, and we’re not going to point out that those two or three trips against North Carolina that could have been a transition basket ended up being missed shots in the half-court offense likely cost you an ACC Championship. In fact, we ENJOY watching you get mad arguing that a slow pace is just as enjoyable and just as successful as an up-tempo pace.

We respect your passion. Your fans were great in DC. You guys were loud, your band is pretty cool, and although you only brought four of them, your dance team did an outstanding job of filling the Ladybirds-sized void during media timeouts. Major props are in order for your commitment to cheering the end of the shot clock as well.

Our heart will always be based in North Carolina, but if we had to pick one neighboring state to put our arms around and hug like you’re our family, we’d pick Virginia 100 times out of 100. Except for when Clemson football is playing. But we’re proud of you for earning a 1 seed, and we want you to do well in March. Go Hoos. You have our endorsement.

#Scalptology Vol 3: What Scalpers Need in DC

The ACC Tournament bracket is set for this week in Washington DC.

2016ACCBracket

What do the hard working ticket scalpers of our nation’s capital need to happen to keep the lights on and mortgage paid?

1. Have a UNC and UVA final. Being close-ish to Charlottesville and having a team in UNC that hasn’t won any sort of tournament since 2009 would make for many fans flocking to DC on Saturday night.

2. Virginia Tech make it to Friday to play Virginia. The Hokies have a huge fanbase in the DC area and another battle of the Commonwealth would make for a great rubber match on Friday night.

3. Duke play UNC on Friday night. Virginia and Virginia Tech will draw, but coupled with another Duke/UNC game on Friday night would make Friday at the Verizon Center, the biggest ticket since Jordan played for the Wizards probably.

4. Make sure no teams south of North Carolina and no teams north of New York (Boston College) make a deep run.

If there are to be upsets (teams playing on Wednesday and earlier), these are the teams that scalpers would like to see:

    1. Virginia Tech
    2. NC State

Which teams need to exit DC as soon as possible for scalpers?

  1. Boston College
  2. Florida State

Incredible hidden tribute in Virginia’s new uniforms

At first glance, the new Virginia basketball uniforms look sharp, but is basically the same format we’ve seen from Nike over the past few years with the subtle designs paying tribute to a school’s history, its campus, etc. But man, we have to hand it to UVA, hiding a tribute to the 35-second shot clock in The Rotunda is amazing.

It’s PROBABLY photoshopped (okay, we photoshopped it), but Virginia fans are already mad about dropping behind NC State in our ACC Bracketology this week.
